Users are incentivized to become validators because it opens an additional opportunity to gain OPT. To operate as a validator, they must offer a minimum of 5,000 OPT as collateral. This creates strong incentives for maintaining network integrity, as any malicious behavior could result in the loss of their staked OPT Digital Rewards.
This model not only enhances security but also promotes decentralization by encouraging broad participation from a diverse group of validators. Further, it allows for faster transaction processing and reduced energy consumption.
